Introduction

Strap on your aprons, folks! We're diving into the chaotic culinary world of Cooking Simulator on the Nintendo Switch, where you can toss food like it's a salad in a food truck and set your kitchen ablaze without risking your own dinnerware. Ready to become a Gordon Ramsay* without the swearing? Let’s sauté our way through the thrills and spills of this immersive simulation!

Gameplay

The game is a delightful mess, allowing players to take on over 80 recipes. With more than 140 ingredients at your digital fingertips, it's easy to go from MasterChef to horror show in just a few taps. Want to prepare a simple salad? Easy! Just grab your lettuce, chop it fine, and... oh wait, did I just throw it all over the floor? Oops! That's the beauty of this physics-based engine: your virtual hands have the finesse of a toddler on a sugar rush. The core modes are where you’ll truly test your mettle. Career Mode is your main grind, where you start as a lonely chef burning toast in your cramped apartment kitchen. Complete orders and earn fame and experience (and maybe your guests’ trust... or not). You’ll learn to juggle cooking dishes while dealing with the glorious chaos of an order wheel spinning faster than you can say "bon appétit!" Unfortunately, there's a catch: you’ll be charged every time you pick up ingredients from the shelf, which feels less like a reward system and more like a cruel joke. Seriously, who charges you for grocery shopping? If the heat gets too real, you can opt for the easier-going Sandbox Mode. Here, you can let your creativity run wild without anyone judging your choice to blend pickles and whipped cream (trust me, don’t try that at home). Want to set off fireworks in the kitchen? Go for it! After all, who doesn’t love a bit of explosion to spice up their cooking? Learning how to play comes thanks to the Cooking School. Now, if you manage to survive the tutorials and emerge with even the slightest ability to slice a carrot without losing a finger, you deserve a medal. If that’s too much pressure, the DLCs offer additional specialties, like running a pizzeria or bakery – perfect for honing those skills... or failing spectacularly. The added challenges, such as the SUPERHOT Challenge and Shelter DLC, give you extra layers of absurdity where you might end up cooking in a post-apocalyptic world (because nothing whets the appetite like surviving a nuclear holocaust, right?).

Graphics

Visually, Cooking Simulator brings to life a kitchen that suddenly feels like your favorite sitcom set – chaotic yet strangely comforting. The graphics are polished enough to almost fool you into thinking it’s a real cooking show, making you feel like you need to twirl under the stove light and smile like a Disney princess while your ingredients magically leap into your waiting pan. However, one agitating point is that the physics can sometimes get a bit wonky. Let’s not even start on how sometimes a well-cooked steak will do an impressive impression of a frisbee. It's both amusing and frustrating! Looking at the game on the Switch, you may feel like you're on a rollercoaster at times. The frames may dip during the culinary chaos, like your expectations each time you try to flip an omelette. But in all honesty, there’s a certain charm that these graphical hiccups lend to the overall experience – marrying humor and absurdity in the kitchen like some kind of chaotic cooking reality show!

Conclusion

Cooking Simulator on Switch is a glorious chaos of culinary catastrophes and triumphs! It blends your fantasy of being a chef with the harsh reality of not knowing how to even boil water. While the controls may strangle your kitchen dreams from time to time, the laughs and fun of experiencing (and failing at) cooking are worth it. Just be prepared to have a dragon-sized patience level. And remember, if you toss a pot on the floor in disbelief of your cooking abilities, it adds to the ambiance! So should you buy this game? If you're up for some slapstick cooking antics and consider yourself a potential dogged chef (or just want to feel better about your own cooking capabilities much like I do), dive in! It may not replace the need to hit the cookbook, but it’ll certainly give you a laugh – and hey, it beats cleaning up the real kitchen! *Disclaimer: not responsible for real-life Gordon Ramsay-esque insults when serving food to your friends after playing.
