Enter the pseudo-medieval kingdom of Ehb, where the enemies are plentiful, and your loot is drastically underwhelming. Previously a triumph, the Dungeon Siege series faces new challenges. Welcome to Dungeon Siege III, where every journey is an adventure and every item in your inventory will leave you questioning your life choices.
Dungeon Siege III is structured like a typical action RPG: navigate dungeons, slay foes, and collect loot. But different enough to make you say, 'Wait, did I just switch stances without knowing?' Essentially, you get to control one of four characters who could use some serious fashion guidance, while the computer or your buddy takes on the role of a confusingly designed AI companion. Gone are the days of multiple characters side by side; now you're limited to lugging around just one extra character who may or may not have a penchant for dying during critical boss fights. Thanks, AI!
The graphics are quite the spectacle. Beautiful landscapes, charming character models, and impressive visual effects all contribute to the magical aesthetics of Ehb, making you think, 'I could get used to this', followed by, 'But where's the health potion store?'. If you're into flashy visuals and details, you're in for a treat, though don't expect to be blown away every second. Frame rates may vary like my interest in side quests.
Dungeon Siege III certainly has its moments, and while it might not be the crown jewel of the action RPG genre, it's still a fun ride-if you're willing to overlook certain quirks and inconveniences. All in all, if you need an adventure that will keep you busy and somewhat entertained without completely draining your sanity, Dungeon Siege III might just be what you're looking for. Just make sure you bring a friend-and some snacks to ease the pain of those random enemy ambushes.
