Introduction

Abandoned, a game that has spent more time in development limbo than I’ve spent scrolling through TikTok. Announced back in 2021 with all the flair of a Hollywood blockbuster, it promised to scare the socks off players while also making us question our life choices. But blimey, it’s had more twists and turns than a rollercoaster run by an indecisive squirrel! Strap in as we explore this mystery wrapped in an enigma that makes me feel like I’m chasing a ghost in a foggy forest.

Gameplay

So first off, let’s talk about gameplay. Abandoned is designed as a survival horror, which means you’ll be doing more sneaking around than a cat trying to avoid its bath. You play as Jason Longfield, who wakes up in a forest, probably asking himself, 'Did I have too much pizza last night?'. Your mission, once you shake off the confusion and the slight nausea, is to escape and face off against a cult and your estranged brother. Thank goodness for family! It’s all about strategy – forget running and gunning; the name of the game here is stealth. You'll have to be careful about every single move, like trying to sneak a snack from the kitchen without your parents noticing. Every sound matters! Well, maybe not Billy's off-key singing, but you get the idea.

Graphics

Now let’s talk about these graphics. They’re powered by Unreal Engine 5, which sounds fancy, right? Imagine being promised a five-star dinner and being served instant ramen. We were promised cinematic horror, and while the trailers looked juicy, the actual game feels like it still has to season a bit. Sure, you might catch some breathtaking views – if you can endure the wait to get there. But let’s be real: in the era of PlayStation 5, we expected something that’d make our jaws drop not just because of the plot twist, but also because of the visuals. The graphics are good, but given all the hype, they should’ve been stunning! Perhaps these developers were busy doing social media updates instead of focusing on polishing the game to perfection.

Conclusion

Overall, Abandoned is like that mysterious package you get at the door – it’s exciting at first, but as you start unwrapping, you find less than what you hoped for. It’s got promise buried somewhere under its multiple delays and rumors that play out like a soap opera. But with all the confusion and complaints surrounding its development, it feels like we’re all standing at a crossroads while waiting for a train that may never arrive. For now, let’s just say it’s a big ol’ 5 out of 10 – it’s there, it exists, but we’re still holding our breath for something spectacular. So here’s to hoping the next chapter in this saga doesn’t leave us all… well, abandoned!
