Introduction

Loaded takes us back to the golden age of gaming when pixels ruled and every character was essentially a walking block of nostalgia. If you're looking for deep storytelling or emotional depth, keep walking past this one. However, if you're craving cartoonish violence served with a side of quirky humor, summon your inner psychopath and shoot your way through this top-down chaos!

Gameplay

Loaded is a two-dimensional shoot 'em up that asks the vital question: 'What if your goal was to both escape a prison planet and inflict extreme violence on everything in sight?' Spoiler alert: That’s exactly what it delivers. Players can choose from a delightfully wacky lineup of six characters, each more deranged than the last, including Mamma, an oversized baby-man in a diaper, and Fwank, a bank robber who looks like he lost a fight with a clown. The game features fifteen chaotic levels sprawled across bizarre worlds where enemies are the unfortunate recipients of your unbridled psychopathy. In terms of gameplay, if you’ve ever played Gauntlet, you’ve pretty much played Loaded. You rush room to room, covered in the color of your enemies’ blood and their inevitable demise. The objective is clear: collect keycards, power-ups, and random debris to kill everything that moves. The catch? You can loot their corpses, because what else are you going to do? Decorate your virtual apartment with their entrails? Collecting grenades, rocket launchers, and bombs adds a lovely touch to the havoc you sow. Just your typical Tuesday afternoon, right?

Graphics

For a game that debuted in 1995, Loaded sported some delightful graphical flair, with impressive 2D environments and character models that pop like a piñata at a kid's party. Light sourcing adds a dramatic edge to the distracting violence, making explosions feel just a bit more satisfying. However, be warned: the graphics can’t obscure the repetitive nature of the action. You may find yourself feeling like you've been stuck in a time loop, gunning down the same foes on the same maps ad nauseam. Still, it’s the '90s, and let’s face it; it was all about the juice of chaos back then, and chaos it delivers!

Conclusion

In the end, Loaded is the equivalent of a bad action movie you just can't help but love. The characters might be one brain cell short of a neuron, and the storyline is as deep as a puddle—but that's the charm! You bask in the mayhem, revel in absurdity, and laugh at the sheer ridiculousness of it all. While it’s not going to win any awards for depth or originality, Loaded stands tall among its chaotic peers. If you’re looking for a nostalgic trip full of mindless fun, fill your cartridge with this thrill-ride. Just remember: sometimes it's good to be a little Loaded!
