Introduction

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga is like getting a bucket of Legos with a side of lightsabers – incredibly fun, creative, and likely to result in a mild existential crisis as you try to understand how you just stepped on a tiny plastic stormtrooper in the middle of a battle. This game manages to pack all nine episodes of the epic Skywalker saga into one Lego-sized box of joy, complete with leg-splitting combat, side quests, and a universe that's just as expansive as your list of unplayed games.

Gameplay

From the moment you boot up the game, the humor hits you faster than the Millennium Falcon can make the Kessel Run. Unlike previous Lego titles, where you had to slug through the story like a Tauntaun in the snow, you now have the freedom to enjoy the Galactic journey at your own pace. Fancy starting with Episode IX? Why not! Want to jump to Episode I and figure out how many little Lego bits you can smash? Go for it! Each of the nine episodes comes equipped with five main missions, plus some delightful pre-level fluff that helps you to forget you’re clashing with Sith Lords while wearing a Lego head. Combat has leveled up as well. Forget those clunky battles of yesteryear; here you have a fluid lightsaber duel with combos that are more fun than a Wookiee at a holiday party. Whether you’re slinging blasters or twirling around a lightsaber, the revamped combat system ensures you’ll feel more like a Jedi and less like an apprentice trying to grasp his first kyber crystal. Oh, and let’s not forget the staggering 380 playable characters. You can unleash your inner Sith or Jedi, dance like a Non-Force Sensitive too, as you hop between various characters from across the saga. But beware, young padawan, while there’s a lot to love, not every side quest is a gem. Some can feel flatter than Jar Jar Binks' character arc. Side content can get a bit repetitive at times, but hey, there’s always that urge to collect every Lego piece in sight – it's like the completionist’s anthem! For those moments when engaging in heroic lightsaber battles is just too much, you can switch to Mumble Mode, which adds a nostalgic vibe akin to the classic Lego games where characters grunt and mumble through their adventures. Spoiler alert: it's just as charming this time around!

Graphics

The visuals are nothing short of breathtaking; they shine like a Han Solo smirk. The game looks even better on the PS5, as though the graphics team had a direct line to Yoda’s Wisdom Tree. Colors pop and environments overflow with detail, making Tatooine and Hoth feel as immersive as a trip to your nearest comic book store – packed with lovely little Easter eggs for the sharp-eyed player to find. The planets are rich, varied, and oh-so-fun to explore, promising a vast galaxy just waiting to make you feel like a kid playing with your growing collection of Lego sets.

Conclusion

Lego Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga on PS5 is a delightful rollercoaster ride through the epic saga we all love, but with enough Lego-styled fun to prevent any major motion sickness. While the bugs and slight performance issues keep it from being a perfect ten, it remains an impressive entry in the Lego gaming universe. An ensemble of humor, nostalgia, and fun gameplay that even Han Solo would approve of – as long as he doesn’t have to pay for it. Grab your controller, suit up as the character of your choice, and prepare to rewrite the Star Wars history books, one Lego piece at a time!
