Introduction

Welcome to the mid-90s, where grunge music and flannel shirts meet polygonal graphics and questionable game design. Enter Perfect Weapon, an action-adventure game that wanted to be Tekken meets Resident Evil but instead felt more like a slapstick mash-up of undercooked ideas. Get ready, because we're diving into a world of weird controls and awkward angles that will leave your thumbs and brain in a tangled mess!

Gameplay

The game follows Blake Hunter, an Earth Defense Force agent who... uh, let's say has a really bad day. After winning a martial arts championship (because life wouldn't be complete without a trophy), he promptly gets knocked out and wakes up in an alien world. Talk about an unexpected teleporter malfunction! You'll guide Blake through a series of fixed camera angles that feel as intuitive as navigating a corn maze blindfolded. The health bar is constantly nagging you-because what is worse than being attacked by aliens? Being attacked with a critically low health bar flashing in your face! But fret not! Blake can throw punches and roundhouse kicks like he's auditioning for a bad action movie. The real kicker? You'll collect power-ups that heal wounds and improve your combat prowess. If only in real life we collected power-ups every time we stubbed our toes.

Graphics

To say the graphics are reminiscent of a classic 90s video game is a kindness. We've got the patented, blocky characters that would make a Lego brick look like a fashion model. The environments are as colorful as a fruit basket, but not nearly as appealing. The alien landscapes look like someone tried to recreate a cheap sci-fi movie on an even cheaper budget. There's a certain charm in the nostalgia of it all, but the charm wears off faster than your favorite tape off an old VHS.

Conclusion

Perfect Weapon may have had aspirations of grandeur, but ultimately found itself trapped in its own clumsy execution. If you're after a half-hearted combination of karate chops and sci-fi effects, maybe give this title a go-preferably for nostalgic reasons. But for most gamers, it might be better to remember it fondly from afar. Like a distant relative you see at family reunions but hope never to engage in conversation with. Score? A solid 4 out of 10. You might just want to use this game as a coaster for those overpriced energy drinks!
